Bella Boutique volunteer event

Date and Time: Saturday, April 13th 2019

Location: Bella Boutique, Denver (exact address TBA)

Bella Boutique is Denver’s only 501c3 nonprofit boutique space dedicated to providing free prom gowns, shoes accessories and more to low-income and disadvantaged youth. Since 2014 they have helped nearly 1,000 children and families and distributed more than $100,000 in free prom gear. Their students come in through the foster care system, with social workers, guardians, teachers or parents. The average household income of their clients is less than $30,000 and 100% of the kids receive free or reduced lunch.

We will work one-on-one with clients as personal stylist volunteers. The combination of the way the boutique is staged and the personal shopper assistance promotes confidence in these girls and inspires them to embrace the opportunity. They don’t have sizes on the racks or mirrors in the dressing rooms. This encourages the teens to focus on fit–not the size–and to be confident enough to come out of the fitting room and show off their dresses in front of everyone. It’s all very deliberate, with a higher purpose.

The boutique looks like any dress shop you would find in any mall–but without the cash registers! They take the “charity” out of obtaining free prom gear. If they didn’t exist, children would either not attend or have to find a dress in a teacher’s closet giveaway or at Goodwill. This experience is about so much more than a dress.

In addition to working as volunteer stylists, we may also do quality control on the incoming donations
